History

The Park is named after Leone Hall Price, who lived on the north side of Stilesboro Road and passed away in 2001. Mrs. Price donated 108 acres on the south side of Stilesboro Road to Cobb County to become parkland. She stipulated the land become a passive park and remain in a natural state to be a place people can enjoy for generations to come.

She wished to promote education, historical restoration and environmental preservation in Cobb and the surrounding counties.

In 2006, Cobb County approved a Master Plan for the park, and in 2007, an additional 17.7 acres were purchased by the County adjacent to the original property. A turning lane and small parking lot were constructed to allow safe parking and access to the main park property. The Friends of Price Park organization worked with the Cobb Parks department and with many volunteers, businesses, Scouts, etc, to create and maintain the trails and amenities on the property.

In 2018, a covered pavilion with picnic tables, water fountains, and restrooms and additional parking were added. Also in 2018, using funds designated for parkland, Cobb County purchased 117 additional acres of Price property on the north side of Stilesboro Road. This expanded the Park to 243 total acres, and in 2019 Cobb County approved the Master Plan for the new north side.

We welcome community volunteers who wish to help make planned improvements to both the north and south sides of Price Park. We want to keep enhancing the public enjoyment of this beautiful land. Please visit the Get Involved menu to find out more about how you can help.
