History of Price Park

The Park is named after Leone Hall Price, who lived across the street from the Park. Mrs. Price gifted the majority of the land that is now Leone Hall Price Park to Cobb County and envisioned it to be a place people can enjoy for generations to come.

Leone Hall Price died in 2001. Under the terms of her will, the Leone Hall Price Foundation, a private charitable trust, was the principal beneficiary. Both the will and the trust instrument were executed shortly before Ms. Price died. The trust's general purpose was to promote education, historical restoration and preservation, ecological, geological and the environmental projects in Bartow County, Carroll County, Cherokee County, Cobb County, Douglas County, Fulton County and Paulding County, Georgia.

The original 108 +/- acre property for Leone Hall Price Park was purchased by Cobb County in 2004. In 2006, a Master Plan was prepared using public input, and approved by the Board of Commissioners for 77 acres south of Stilesboro Road. In 2007, an additional 17.7 acres was purchased adjacent to this portion of the property.

Although substantial development of the Master Plan has not yet occurred, a turning lane and small parking lot have been constructed to allow safe parking and access to the main park property. We welcome community volunteers who wish to offer to help us make planned improvements to enhance public enjoyment of the area, pending future full development of the park.

Incorporating public input, Cobb County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs has completed a Master Plan for Leone Hall Price Park, located on Stilesboro Road one mile east of Mars Hill Road.
