Bird Watchers

There are some great, free mobile apps for the bird watching community:

The Audubon Bird Guide app helps you identify birds, keep track of the birds you’ve seen, record where you’ve seen them, and find out where other people have sighted birds. Record what you’ve seen in Price Park to inform others who might want to know!

eBird Mobile app makes it easy for you to record the birds you see in Price Park. And it seamlessly links your observations with the global eBird data base used by hundreds of thousands of birders around the world. The more your observations are linked to eBird, the better we can track the birds in the park.

Merlin Bird ID app helps you identify what bird you are seeing by answering a few simple questions. Or take a photo, and Merlin Photo ID will offer a list of possible matches. Merlin Bird draws its information from the eBird data base.

Bluebird Trail

The three bluebird nestboxes in Price Park have seen action every year. We have a volunteer who checks on the boxes throughout the summer to give input to the Cornell School of Ornithology. Please remember… OBSERVE, but DON’T TOUCH the bluebird boxes. Thank you!

We also like to keep track of what’s going on at the Green Meadows Preserve Bluebird Trail. They have been fledging between 250 and 300 bluebirds each year for the last few years! Jim Bearden, “The Bluebird Guy,” started the Trail in the spring of 2012, and they now have over 30 nestboxes. Visit and subscribe to the Blue Bird Trail Blog for Green Meadows.
