BIRD 'N BUTTERFLY-A-THON 2016

Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 8:00am-1:00pm
Rain date: Sunday, September 18 from 8:00am-1:00pm
Price Park will be open for the Bird 'N Butterfly-a-thon from dawn until dusk. Volunteers from the Friends of Price Park, Atlanta Audubon Society and Brookstone Women's Club will be present continuously at the park to assist participants and visitors, and lend out binoculars and bird/butterfly identification charts.

Saturday, September 19 from 7:30am-1:00pm
  • Bird Walk: 8:00am
  • Bird and Butterfly Walk: 11:00am
  • Kids Craft Table and Scavenger Hunt: all day
  • 10am-1pm: Wild Birds Unlimited of Dallas will be available to instruct and answer questions about how to attract birds to your yard. A table with feeders, food, and bird houses will be on display. Bring your questions and squirrel problems!

Friends of Price Park is proud to invite you to participate in our fourth annual Bird 'n Butterfly-a-thon, sponsored by the Brookstone Women's Club and the Atlanta Audubon Society. Just in time for the fall migration of birds and during the park's spectacular meadow bloom, we will be hosting this year's event on Saturday, September 19. Come to the park and learn about the sport of birding, how to use binoculars, how to identify birds and butterflies by their "field marks." Explore the park on a guided walk with a skilled birder or butterfly expert!

  • Bring your binoculars if you have them, a limited number of binoculars may be available to borrow
    a limited number of bird and butterfly guide books and foldouts will be available to borrow
  • Walks will be held rain or shine
  • Port-a-potty will be available
  • No pets on scheduled walks
  • Raffle tickets for prizes, waters, snacks and t-shirts will be available for sale (cash and checks only)
  • Receipts for donations will be available immediately upon request

  • GUIDED WALKS by experienced birders! This is a great opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to learn about birds and butterflies! During the weekend, skilled volunteers will be available to lead walks through the park for beginning birders or anyone who wants to learn more. Binoculars (TBD), bird and butterfly guides will also be available to borrow.
  • RAFFLE PRIZES! There will be many chances to win a prize for those visitors who would like to buy one or more raffle tickets to help support the Friends of Price Park and its projects. Tickets will be available for purchase for $5 each and many prizes will be drawn.
  • SPONSOR Recognition - Local artists, business owners and others that would like to donate a prize, or contribute to the event in some way, please contact us as soon as possible. We will recognize event sponsors on our website.
